Embark and Debark Ports
Most cruises start and end in the same city, so calling it "Home Port" worked fine. But plenty of itineraries -- especially repositioning sailings and longer cruises -- embark in one city and debark in another. A Trans-Atlantic out of Miami ending in Barcelona, for example.
We've split the concept:
- Embark Port -- where the cruise departs from (the old "Home Port")
- Debark Port -- where the cruise ends
Both are shown on the sailings index, and both are filterable. If you're planning a one-way sailing or specifically looking for cruises that end somewhere interesting, this makes it much easier to find them.
Port names also now use the canonical short name across the site -- so "Ft. Lauderdale" and "Fort Lauderdale, Florida" consistently show up as "Fort Lauderdale," no matter which cruise line's feed they came from.
